The harvest

In the stillness of the labyrinth on Tao Fong Shan, meditative activities become more popular. Yet, the essence of Tao Fong Shan lies in the shade of the surrounding trees, where, in due season, the fruits of labour are ripe for harvest.

One day, the workers noticed the fruits had matured and gathered to pick some Lychee, equipped with ladders, pruning shears, and baskets. Without these tools, the harvest would remain out of reach. Climbing the tall ladder requires the support of companions to prevent misfortune. Picking a single fruit demands effort and sacrifice; otherwise, we could only gaze from afar.

Is our life bearing fruits? Are we nurturing the growth within? Have we spent the time and energy to gather these fruits, sharing them with gratitude as offerings to the Lord? If we shy away from the effort, fearing inconvenience, we risk losing the fruit when it falls—perhaps to the monkeys that lurk nearby.
