Outline : The course will look at the life and teaching of John of the Cross, especially his understanding of being a companion or guide for someone on their journey to full life with God. In all sections, we will see the relevancy to a contemporary ministry of being a spiritual companion to the Christian in today’s world.

Instructor : Fr. Charles Cummingshas been a monk of Holy Trinity Abbey, Huntsville, Utah, U.S. since 1960. He is a Roman Catholic priest of the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance. He holds a MA in formative Spirituality from DuquesneUniversity, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He has published articles and books, of which only Monastic Practices is still in print. For seven years, he edited Cistercian Studies Quartely, an international review of the monastic and contemplative spiritual tradition. In his monastery he currently serves as novice director and vocation director.
